The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Jordan 2016 Local Organising Committee (LOC) have launched the ‘You are Player Number 12’ campaign, calling on Jordanian fans from around the Kingdom to show their support during the upcoming tournament.

With supporters given the title of ‘Player Number 12’, the campaign looks to reflect the important role those in the stands play, putting them alongside those on the field. LOC Chairman and Jordan Football Association Vice President, Eng. Salah Sabra stressed that fan participation is key to seeing a successful FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, describing it as the foundation which will give rise to an atmosphere of excitement and sportsmanship.

“Hosting the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup is a historic national accomplishment belonging to each and every Jordanian, which is why, during the upcoming phase, we will focus our efforts on Jordanian audiences, who represent the key to holding a truly successful tournament,” Sabra said. “By witnessing an increasing number of families visiting football stadia, we are moving forward in line with the well-known sporting values that we seek to revitalize and reinforce.”

LOC CEO Samar Nassar added: “As the countdown continues and with only a few months remaining until our hosting of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, we persist in our ongoing efforts to inspire Jordanian audiences. [The ‘You are Player Number 12’] campaign stems from our absolute conviction that every citizen in Jordan has a responsibility to rally around this prominent sporting event, as well as a part to play in ensuring its success.

“By extending a warm welcome to guests of our nation, enthusiastically and respectfully cheering on all participating teams, responsibly and tastefully expressing our joy at all times, and displaying a high level of sportsmanship and unity, we can all come together – citizens and public officials alike – to present a distinguished tournament, successful by all standards,” she continued. “‘You are Player Number 12’ is therefore an invitation for us all to carry out our duty and show that Jordan has the capacity to proudly host international events and teams, receiving them with hospitality and open arms.”

The draw for Jordan 2016 will take place on 30 May at the Al Hussein Cultural Center in Amman.
