This weekend marks 50 years since Apollo 11 landed on the moon (20 July 1969). Verge Science takes us behind the scenes at NASA in this video, while Channel 4’s YouTube Channelis reliving the journey in a live broadcast over six days. Track the mission as it unfolded from the viewpoint of Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins, with unedited audio between Mission Control and the astronauts themselves.

NASA has big plans to return to the Moon by 2024, and it’s banking on the historic Space Launch System (SLS) to get them there. But after years of delays and cost overruns, skeptics are questioning whether SLS should remain the biggest priority for NASA. As the 50th anniversary of the Moon landing approaches, we take a look at what the future of solar system exploration might bring.
